What's the difference between LASIK, SmILE, and PRK?

Contact lenses are not a TRICARE covered benefit. Active Duty are able to update their current contact lenses during a full eye exam if they bring in a current copy of their contact lens prescription and their actual contacts.

If patients lose or break their glasses, but have a current eye examination in their health record (less than 2 years old), they may request to reorder glasses or obtain a copy of their prescription via MHS Genesis Patient Portal messaging. Active Duty members are entitled to one frame of choice per year and a standard issue frame.

  • Retirees:

Patients with a current eye examination may bring their spectacle prescription to the Optometry clinic during normal business hours to have spectacles ordered. Retirees are authorized one pair of standard issue frames per year.
