Health Services

Scope of Care:

The Optometry Department provides comprehensive eye and vision care to eligible beneficiaries. Our doctors examine, diagnose, treat, and manage diseases, injuries, and disorders of the visual system, the eye and related structures, as well as identify related systemic conditions affecting the eye. At this time our care is limited to Active Duty patients only.

After hours urgencies should call the toll free Nurse Advice Line: 1-800-TRICARE, (1-800-874-2273) option 1. Available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Services include:

  • Active Duty:

Comprehensive eye exams and physicals, spectacle ordering and repair, Aviation Contact Lens Program (Designated Aircrew in flight status only), refractive surgery (PRK/LASIK) evaluations and post-operative care, and LASER Surveillance Program eye exams.

If patients lose or break their glasses, but have a current eye examination in their health record (< 2 yrs. old), they may walk-in without appointment and reorder glasses or obtain a copy of their prescription. Active Duty members are entitled to one frame of choice per year and a standard issue frame.

Your eyes may be dilated at your examination depending on your medical eye history and we encourage patients to bring sunglasses as light sensitivity may occur after dilation.

  • Retirees:

Patients with a current eye examination may bring their spectacle prescription to the Optometry clinic during normal business hours to have spectacle ordered. Retirees are authorized one pair of standard issue frames per year. Adjustments and repairs are offered as a walk-in service during normal business hours.
